Kirsteen Pieterse
Kirsteen Pieterse is a Scottish sculptor who centers her subject on the landscapes inspired by Western and Chinese painting, with contemporary large-scale engineering construction and infrastructure. It attempts to call to mind the massive engineering projects which impose on the contemporary landscape. The works' scale reminds viewers of the mighty power of nature. Modern architecture and engineering become human mechanization to approach the natural world. As a response, Pieterse's works added the importance to recognize the ramifications of such endeavours.
Pieterse has won the Wyndham City Council Acquisitive Prize, Helen Lempriere National Sculpture in 2008. Her works have been exhibited in GalleryHZ, Blindspot Gallery, Martin Browne Contemporary, and many more. Since 2016, she has commissioned her works for Cathay Pacific.
